History and Culture Meet in Downtown
Atlanta was a battleground during the civil rights movement, so it’s only fitting that the city is the home of the Center for Civil and Human Rights. Created in 2007, the center explores the history of the American Civil Rights Movement and the global fight to protect human rights. Here you can view original papers from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s personal archive among other rotating and fixed exhibits.
The center is in the same complex as the World of Coca-Cola, where you can view the vault that stores the secret Coca-Cola formula, and the Georgia Aquarium; the aquarium is a hands-on, immersive educational experience unlike any other. On top of these star attractions, the College Football Hall of Fame and CNN Studios are just a block away.
Your Food Options Are Endless
Atlanta has its fair share of fancy, five-star restaurants. Those are completely worth a stop in, but so is Varsity, where a chili cheese slaw dog and a frosted orange is the order du jour. Varsity, the world’s largest drive-in eatery, still operates its original location on North Avenue. Opened in 1928, the carhops are keeping the history and culture of Varsity alive by asking the same opening line “What’ll ya have?” for all its 90 years and serving up the same classics.
Our vacation rentals in downtown Atlanta offer amazing views of the city. Sit in a penthouse high in the sky and get panoramic views of the city.
